If a check fails above, here's what it usually means.
Usually a browser permission was blocked. Check your site settings and allow microphone access, then reload this mic test page.
The meter staying flat usually means the wrong input device is selected, the mic is muted at the OS level, or a cable is loose.
A consistently low meter reading often means input gain is turned down in your system sound settings, or you're too far from the mic.
If the clipping badge keeps triggering, your input gain is too high — lower it in your OS audio settings to avoid distorted recordings.
A high noise floor while silent can point to electrical interference, a faulty cable, or a fan or AC unit too close to the microphone.
